Unders started out 49-21 on Tuesday night and we saw teams getting points go 38-30-2 ATS, including some big upsets like Navy over Virginia, UCSB over Cal and Northern Illinois over Washington. On a much smaller college hoops slate for Wednesday, we saw several big underdogs cover, including Lehigh (+20.5) vs. Rutgers, Buffalo (+13) vs. Michigan, Robert Morris (+16) vs. UCF, Florida A&M (+16) vs. Kansas State and Northwestern State (+19.5) vs. Tulsa. Big favorites haven't been in rhythm just yet and dogs have been covering a lot of numbers. Underdogs were profitable again on Wednesday going 11-6-1 with two pick-em games. Unders went 12-8 on Wednesday, so those did well again for bettors.

Big NFL favorites are falling on a weekly basis, but the betting public just can't resist, and it's proving costly. In the past three weeks, six underdogs of seven points or more have pulled off outright upsets. That's the most in a three-week stretch since 2018 (Weeks 13-15), according to ESPN Stats and Information. Yet, the most-popular bet at sportsbooks is routinely the money-line on a big favorite. This week, bettors loaded up on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers against the Washington Football Team. The Buccaneers closed as 9.5-point underdogs and -450 on the money-line.. Entering Sunday's early kickoffs at sportsbook PointsBet, there were more bets on the Buccaneers' money-line than there were on any other NFL market. The Tampa Bay money-line also was the most-popular parlay leg. Washington won 29-19, producing the third-most lucrative decision of the season for PointsBet, behind only the New England Patriots covering the spread against the Buccaneers in Tom Brady's return and the New York Jets' upset of the Cincinnati Bengals. Led by the Football Team's upset of the Bucs, sportsbooks were reporting a third-straight winning Sunday, although not as big as the last two weeks. "I think some people backed off after the banner day the underdogs had a week ago," John Murray, executive director of the SuperBook in Las Vegas, told ESPN on Sunday. NFL notables
• Underdogs are 9-4 against the spread this week, entering the Monday night game. On the season, underdogs are covering the spread at a 58.2% clip. • The Packers beat the Seahawks 17-0 on Sunday, easily covering as 3-point favorites. After losing to the New Orleans Saints in Week 1, Green Bay has covered the spread in nine straight games. It's third-longest streak of covering in the Super Bowl era, according to ESPN Stats and Information. The 1985 New England Patriots covered the spread in 14 consecutive games, and the 1992 San Diego Chargers covered the spread in 13 straight games. The Packers (9-1 ATS) are the first team to cover the spread in nine of their first 10 games of the season, since the 2016 Dallas Cowboys started 9-0-1 against the spread. • The Lions and Steelers ending in a 16-16 tie Sunday produced a bitter ending for contestants in Las Vegas-based sportsbook Circa Sports' survivor contest that boasts a $6 million guaranteed prize pool. The Steelers were the most popular pick in the contest, chosen by 248 (36.2%) of the remaining players. Craig Mucklow, vice president of trading for Caesars Sportsbook, said Lions covering the spread in the tie produced one of his book's biggest losses of the day, thanks to "two huge six-figure bets at +9 and +8." • The largest NFL bets reported this week by Caesars Sportsbook: - $520,000 on the Patriots -1.5 (Win) - $520,000 on the Chargers -2.5 (Loss) - $520,000 on the Lions +9 (Win) - $520,000 on the 49ers +4 (vs. Rams on Monday night) - $495,000 on the Panthers +10.5 (Win) • Johnny Avello, a longtime Las Vegas bookmaker now with DraftKings, said the book got off to a "very good" start Sunday, with the Football Team's upset of the Buccaneers the best early result. Avello added that the Jaguars (+10.5) covering the spread in a 23-17 loss to the Colts, and the Saints (+3) covering in a 23-21 loss to the Titans also were good decisions for the house. "They are on the Vikings and Eagles money-lines, and Packers [-3] in the afternoon, but we'll still be OK," Avello told ESPN in a text message Sunday. The Vikings and Eagles each pulled outright upsets, in addition to Green Bay's win over Seattle.

A U.S. bookmaker lost more than $1 million Thursday night, when Los Angeles Angels two-way star Shohei Ohtani was named American League MVP.
On March 19, a bettor in Nevada placed a $30,000 on Ohtani to win MVP at 30-1 odds with Caesars Sportsbook (then William Hill). Ohtani was named the unanimous winner Thursday, and Caesars suffered an overall seven-figure loss on an awards market that typically doesn't attract a ton of money.

The resurgent New England Patriots, winners of four in a row, are shooting up the odds to win the Super Bowl and attracting big bets at U.S. sportsbooks.
On Oct. 31, the Patriots were 100-1 long shots to win the Super Bowl at Caesars Sportsbook. Two weeks later, New England is 25-1 and behind only four teams in the AFC.
The Buffalo Bills are 6-1 and co-Super Bowl favorites with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Tennessee Titans and Kansas City Chiefs are each 11-1, and the Baltimore Ravens are 13-1.
The Patriots' surge attracted a big bet Tuesday in Las Vegas. BetMGM reported taking a $20,000 Super Bowl bet on the Patriots at 25-1 at the Bellagio sportsbook. The bet would pay a net $500,000 if New England wins the Super Bowl.

Earlier in the Maui Invitational in Las Vegas (yes, that’s right), Wisconsin upset No. 12 Houston 65-63 as an 8-point dog and + 290 on the money line. Game went Over 122.5.
CFB: Favorites went 2-0 SU and ATS in MACtion as Ball State (-6.5) beat Buffalo 20-3 and Western Michigan (-7) beat Northern Illinois 42-21. Over/Unders split 1-1. Mid-week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) MAC Overs still lead 11-7 this year and 59-26-2 (69.4 percent) the last 5 years.

NHL: Faves went 2-0 Tuesday with Oilers-Stars closing pick-'em (though argument could be made that Stars were slightest of favorites as most books had Stars favored on puck line and Circa and Westgate both had them -110 with Oilers + 100 on 10-cent line). Unders went 2-1.

If you like chaos, upsets and drama, then you could have hooked Saturday directly into your veins. What a phenomenal Saturday of college football it was. The College Football Playoff no longer features Ohio State, as the Buckeyes lost to Michigan for the first time since 2011 to fall out of the picture. It sure looks like the Wolverines, who won the Big Ten East for the first time under Jim Harbaugh, control their own destiny next week against Iowa as an 8.5-point favorite.
Alabama needed some serious help to beat Auburn in the Iron Bowl. The Tide were already destined for the SEC Championship Game against Georgia, but a second loss would have put their playoff hopes in serious jeopardy. All it took was a 12-play, 97-yard game-tying touchdown drive to send the game to overtime and Alabama prevailed in the bogus two-point conversion gimmick to survive another day. The Bulldogs are -6 next weekend in Atlanta in the highly-anticipated game.
Oklahoma State won a Bedlam matchup against Oklahoma that lived up to the name. Now the Cowboys face Baylor and it looks as though they could make the final four with a win. They'll be a big favorite over the Bears, though we'll see if QB Gerry Bohanon can return and give Baylor the best chance possible.
The playoff drama certainly took center stage, but LSU had a dramatic, comeback win to send Ed Orgeron off a winner. North Texas secured bowl eligibility by knocking off unbeaten UTSA (Bry) :( to go from 1-6 to 6-6. Tulsa also finished its three-game quest to become bowl-eligible with a win over SMU. Kent State outlasted Miami (OH) 48-47 to punch a ticket to face Northern Illinois in Detroit on Friday night in the MAC Championship Game

Magic (+ 14 at 76ers) and Pacers (+ 4 at Timberwolves) covered in SU losses. Overs went 5-4, but Unders still lead 174-137-3 (55.9 percent) on the season.
NHL: Faves/dogs split 2-2 Monday with the upsets by the Coyotes (+ 260 in 1-0 win at Jets) and Canucks (+ 107 in 2-1 win at Canadiens). Kraken (-140 in 7-4 win at Sabres) and Flames (-145 in 2-1 win vs. Penguins) won as faves with Kraken the only chalk to cover the -1.5 puck line on the night. Road teams went 3-1 and Unders also went 3-1.
CBB: No. 3 Gonzaga held off Tarleton State 64-55 after only leading 26-25 at halftime and being tied with less than 10 minutes to play. Gonzaga never got close to covering as a 32-point home favorite. Most books didn’t offer a money line on the game as an outright was pretty much inconceivable, but Tarleton State was + 2500 (25-1) on the money line at the South Point in Las Vegas.
