Line Move Update: Over the past 24-hours we've seen several shops fall from Rams -4.5 to -4. This signals respected money jumping on the Bengals plus the hook (+4.5). Initially, the early money was on Los Angeles, steaming the Rams up from -3.5 to -4.5. But it appears we've reached the high water mark and late money is grabbing Cincinnati at an inflated +4.5, causing the line to fall back down toward the Bengals.
Super Bowl dogs getting 3-points or more are 8-2 ATS since 2008. The Bengals have won their last two games outright as a dog ( 7 against the Chiefs and 4 against the Titans). Joe Burrow is 12-7 ATS (63%) in his career as a dog.

Sunday Takes
NBA: Favorites went 7-1 SU and ATS on Sunday (after 6-0 SU and ATS on Saturday for 13-1 SU and ATS over the last 2 days). The lone upset was by the smallest underdog on the card with the Mavericks (+ 1.5) beating the Hawks 103-94. Note: @sportsjoe, a follower of mine on Twitter, pointed out that the Mavericks actually opened as a short fave, so if you go by that, faves are 13-0 SU and ATS the past 2 days. Over/Unders split 4-4.
NFL: AFC held off NFC 41-35 in NFL Pro Bowl at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas for the AFC's record-setting 5th-straight win. The AFC also covered after closing as a 2-point favorite. The game went Over the betting total of 65 points. As I mentioned on Twitter @viewfromvegas, it’s hard to stay Under when there’s little defense being played – and then on the rare stops, they added to the scoring with 3 defensive TDs (as then the offensive players didn’t tackle or even get close to tackling).
CBB: Three Top 25 teams were in action on Sunday and No. 6 Houston (-6.5 in 80-58 win at Cincinnati), No. 15 Providence (-6 in 71-52 win at Georgetown) and No. 16 Ohio State (-9.5 in 82-67 win vs. Maryland) all won and covered.
Super Bowl odds update (10 p.m. PT Sunday): Rams continue to be 4.5-point favorites vs. the Bengals in Las Vegas. Treasure Island is still the only book at Rams -4 (-125) as of late Sunday night, but we've seen some more indications the line could drop, especially with some movement offshore as well as at books in other states. The Over/Under is still a solid 48.5 in Vegas.

Monday’s recaps
NBA: Faves went 5-0 SU on Monday (18-1 SU the last 3 days) but only 3-1-1 ATS (after going 13-1 ATS on Saturday and Saturday for 16-2-1, 83.3 percent, last 3 days). Warriors (-12) pushed in 110-98 win at the Thunder. Suns (-6.5) failed to cover in a 127-124 win at Bulls. Unders went 3-2.
CBB: Virginia upset No. 7 Duke 69-68 as 11-point road underdog and + 500 on the money line. No. 20 Texas upset No. 8 Kansas 79-76 as a 1.5-point home dog. No. 4 Arizona beat Arizona State 91-79, pushing on closing line of -12 (but earlier ASU bettors cashed...cha-ching!).
NHL: Favorites went 2-0 on Monday with Maple Leafs (-129 in 4-3 OT win at Hurricanes) and Senators (-125 in 4-1 win vs. Devils). The Devils' "score in first 10 minutes" streak also ended after 16 straight. Over/Unders split 1-1.

Wednesday's upsets were by the Blazers (+ 9 vs. Lakers) and Kings (+ 7.5 vs. TImberwolves). The Cavaliers (-5.5 vs. Spurs), Bulls (-1.5 at Hornets), Raptors (-10 at Thunder) and Jazz (-1 vs. Warriors) covered as faves. Unders went 4-2.
CBB: On a night when Top 25 teams went 2-4 SU and ATS, SMU (7-point home dog) upset No. 6 Houston 85-83, Oklahoma (3-point home dog) upset No. 9 Texas Tech 70-55, Rutgers (3-point home dog) upset No. 16 Ohio State 66-64 and Seton Hall (3-point home fave) beat No. 25 Xavier 73-71, but did NOT cover.
NHL: Underdogs went 4-2 on Wednesday with upsets by the Coyotes (+ 186 in 5-2 win at the Kraken), Blackhawks (+ 154 in 4-1 win at the Oilers), Stars (-105 in 4-3 win vs. the Predators) and Red Wings (-105 in 6-3 win at the Flyers). Overs went 4-1-1 with push in Flames' 6-0 win vs. Golden Knights.
Super Bowl odds update (10 p.m. PT Wednesday): Rams continue to be consensus 4.5-point favorites vs. the Bengals at the majority of books in Las Vegas with the South Point, William Hill/Caesars and Treasure Island only books down to Rams -4 as of late Wednesday. The Over/Under is still a solid 48.5 in Vegas.

Friday’s recaps
NBA: Faves went 6-1 SU on Friday (43-6 SU the last 7 days) but only 4-3 ATS (falling to 38-9-2 ATS, 80.9 percent, the last 7 days but still over 80 percent overall). The lone upset was by the Spurs (+ 8.5 in 136-121 win at Hawks). The Thunder (+ 13.5 at 76ers) and Nuggets (+ 6.5 at Celtics) covered in SU losses. Overs went 4-3.
CBB: No. 25 Xavier (-1) covered in its 74-68 home win vs. No. 24 UConn. Those were the only Top 25 teams in action on Friday night. There are tons more on Saturday (21 ranked teams playing), including some teams' scores that will kick off cross-sport Super Bowl props.
NHL: Faves went 3-1 with the lone upset by the Kraken (+ 142 in 4-3 win at the Ducks). The Stars (-150 in 4-3 OT win vs. Jets), Oilers (-148 in 3-1 win vs. Islanders) and Lightning (-300 in 4-3 win at Coyotes) won as chalk but only the Oilers covered the -1.5 puck line. Overs went 3-1.
Super Bowl odds update (10 p.m. PT Friday): Rams were still a consensus -4 in Las Vegas late Friday with the Wynn the only book still offering Bengals + 4.5. The lowest line on the Rams -4 is -101 at the Westgate SuperBook, which is dealing a 10-cent line with the Bengals + 4 -109. The Over/Under is still mostly 48.5, but the South Point, Station Casinos and Wynn are the first to go back up to 49.

Nevada books shatter state's Super Bowl handle record with $179.8 million
Nevada sportsbooks broke their all-time Super Bowl handle record by taking $179.8 million in bets on the Los Angeles Rams’ 23-20 come-from-behind victory over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, according to figures released by the state’s Gaming Control Board on Monday.
That shattered the previous record of $154.6 million wagered four years ago on the Philadelphia Eagles’ 41-33 upset of the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII.
“The catalysts for this year's record was that yesterday's game had two very distinct betting options for customers due to the spread being at -4.5 and the money-line wagers, which attracted healthy action on both sides,” Michael Lawton, GCB senior economic analyst, wrote VSiN.com in an email. “Furthermore, this year there was a normal Super Bowl party environment with COVID-19 restrictions including mask requirements being lifted. Sportsbooks across the state were able to capitalize on this in addition to the continued acceptance of mobile sports wagering by customers which allow the books to offer a wider variety of betting options with proposition bets and increased ‘In-Play’ wagering.
“This year's total continued the trends we have been witnessing in sports wagering during calendar year 2021, where the State saw three consecutive months of over $1.0 billion in wagers and an all-time annual record was established with $8.1 billion in total sports book write.”
The sportsbooks won $15.4 million from bettors (hold of 8.6 percent), which ranks fourth all-time behind the record $19.7 million win in the Seattle Seahawks’ 43-8 rout of the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVII in 2014, $18.8 million win two years ago in the Kansas City Chiefs’ 31-20 win over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV in 2020 or the Patriots 24-21 win over the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl XXXIX in 2005.
“The majority of customers who took the Rams laid the 4.5 points and the majority of patrons who took the Bengals bet them to win outright,” Lawton wrote. “Adding to these outcomes was the fact that the popular choice was the game going Over 48.5 points. The end result, in addition to the in-play wagers and proposition bets, allowed Nevada Sports Book Operators to record the 4th highest win total all-time since records have been kept going back to 1991.”
In past years, Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale probably would have placed his $9.5 million in money line bets on the Bengals in Nevada. He made those bets to hedge against a promotion in which his furniture store customers would get a refund of a $3,000 or more purchase if the Bengals won the Super Bowl. This year, Mattress Mack made his wagers in Louisiana, closer to his home base in Houston. That should be reflected in Louisiana’s handle and win (instead of boosting Nevada to a record win) when that state releases its Super Bowl figures.

‘Mattress Mack’ Lost $9.5 Million in Super Bowl Bets When Rams Defeated Bengals
Furniture salesman should have taken the points.
McIngvale scored massively in last year’s Super Bowl after betting nearly $3.5 million on the 3.5-point spread involving Tampa Bay to cover against the Chiefs.
This year, Mattress Mack got greedy and swung for the big payout that would have potentially netted $16.15 million. If he had followed last year’s successful strategy, he would have won. Cincinnati covered the 4.5-point spread, only coming up three points short of Los Angeles.
That is not even the worst part.
Since the start of 2022, four of his last five bets have all now been graded by sportsbooks as losing wagers.
