Fernandez loves pitching at Marlins Park '
New York Mets at Miami Marlins June 5, 1:10 EST
The closing matchup of a three game series is today’s baseball betting focus as the Miami Marlins host the New York Mets this afternoon at Marlins Park. According to the current betting odds, the Marlins enter this contest as -$1.50 home favorites, with a run total of 7.0.
Jose Fernandez will take the mound for Marlins, sporting an 8-2 record, 2.53 ERA. Fernandez on a roll, finished the month of May 6-0 allowing two or fewer runs in five of six starts with a 56-11 strikeout-to-walk ratio in those contests. Frenandez's’ pitching rival will be righthander Matt Harvey, who has a 4-7 record, 5.37 ERA entering today's contest. Following a shaky start to May, Harvey ended the month on the right foot tossing 7 innings of 2 hit, no run ball helping put an end to a three-game losing streak.
It's not difficult making a case for Miami as the presence of Jose Fernandez on the mound bodes well for Marlins' chances. History shows Jose Fernandez loves pitching in front of the friendly crowd at Marlins Park. In the righthanders 32 starts at the venue he is 22-1 with Miami 28-4 in those games. Additionally, as a team, the Marlins have thrived against Metropolitans with Fernandez posting a 4-1 record in his five career starts which includes a perfect 2-0 mark hooked up against Matt Harvey.
