A Texas grand jury has indicted free agent quarterback and 2012 Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel on an assault charge, according to Dallas County court records.
Manziel's former girlfriend, Colleen Crowley, accused the former NFL quarterback of restraining, hitting and threatening her during an alleged assault on January 30. She says in an affidavit that Manziel grabbed her by the hair and hit her, causing her to lose her hearing in one ear.
Manziel, 23, has denied hitting Crowley.

Manziel attorney resigns amid texts
Johnny Manziel's spokeswoman says an attorney who accidently sent The Associated Press a text message with details related to the Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback's domestic violence case has resigned from the defense team. Denise Michaels on Monday confirmed her earlier tweet that Bob Hinton had withdrawn from the case, which is being led by El Paso attorney Jim Darnell.
The AP reported last week that Hinton's inadvertent text indicated he had doubts about Manziel's ability to stay clean and that he was given a receipt that allegedly shows Manziel may have spent more than $1,000 at a drug paraphernalia store the day following a hit-and-run crash. The text was sent Wednesday after the AP sought comment via text about the crash.
The 23-year-old Manziel faces a misdemeanor assault chart on allegations of hitting and threatening former girlfriend Colleen Crowley in January.

NFL notebook: Manziel welcome in Arena league By The Sports Xchange
Quarterback Johnny Manziel's chances of playing in the NFL this season are very much in doubt, but he has a fallback. Commissioner Scott Butera of the Arena Football League says it has a place for him. "We could provide a strong platform for him to demonstrate that he is back," Butera told TMZ Sports. "We would also work with him and provide him whatever help he needed to live a healthy life." Manziel, who is unsigned after being released by the Cleveland Browns in March, was suspended for the first four games of next season by the NFL earlier this week. In addition, Manziel faces further potential discipline from the league for violations of its personal conduct policy if he does sign with a team. His domestic assault case in Dallas is pending.

Police responded to the emergency room at the hospital at 3:28 a.m. Thursday where Robertson was being treated, according to the San Bernardino County sheriff.
