Upcoming games of interest
Saturday – Baylor Bears at Kansas Jayhawks (CBS)
Baylor has played two true road games this season and lost both. The Bears lost 74-67 at Oregon and 80-61 at Texas A&M. Now they will play at Kansas, which has been one of the best teams in the country, both in efficiency metrics and on the eye test. The Jayhawks come into this game with an 11-1 SU record and their lone loss came to No. 1 Michigan State on a neutral floor.
Sunday - Wake Forest Demon Deacons at Louisville Cardinals (ESPNU)
Wake Forest has played well for head coach Danny Manning early this season. The Demon Deacons have faced an extremely difficult schedule so far with games against Indiana, Vanderbilt, UCLA, Xavier, and LSU. They’ve survived that gauntlet with a winning record, but beating Louisville will be difficult. The Cardinals’ two losses this season have come against Michigan State and Kentucky by a combined six points.
Monday - West Virginia Mountaineers at TCU Horned Frogs (Espn2)
West Virginia has an impressive 10-1 record as of this writing, but will play at Virginia Tech and at Kansas State before this game. The Mountaineers will be playing their third consecutive road game over a six-day span, so this is a difficult scheduling spot for West Virginia. Texas Christian lost to a very good SMU squad by just five points at home, so the Horned Frogs proved they can hang tough at home. Texas Christian plays a halfcourt style that may frustrate West Virginia as well, so this will be a challenging game for the road team.
Tuesday – Kentucky Wildcats at LSU Tigers (ESPN)
NBA fans should tune in to watch Kentucky play at LSU next Tuesday night. The Wildcats are loaded with future NBA players while LSU has a future pro and possible No. 1 overall pick in Ben Simmons. Kentucky’s two losses this season have come on the road, losing at UCLA and versus Ohio State on a neutral court. Louisiana State is finally back to full health and, fortunately for the Tigers, the team will have a couple of games under their belts together prior to Kentucky’s visit.
