London-based bettor wins $1.36 million six-leg parlay on Harris English putt
The bet -- a six-leg parlay, or accumulator, as they are known in the United Kingdom -- was placed June 22 and paid out at 90,396-1 odds, according to Betfair, a U.K.-based online sportsbook and betting exchange. It featured two soccer matches in Euro 2020 and four outright winners in the weekend's golf tournaments.
The legs of the parlay and odds were:
Croatia to defeat Scotland at +140.
England to defeat Czech Republic at -182.
Steve Stricker to win the Bridgestone Senior Players Championship at +500.
Nelly Korda to win the KPMG Women's PGA Championship at +1,400.
Viktor Hovland to win the BMW International Open at +650.
Harris English to win the Travelers Championship at +3,500.
"I was sure that Hovland, Korda and Steve Stricker were good bets," the unidentified bettor told Betfair. "But I was a little unsure on Harris English."
The first five legs of the parlay had already hit before English, a 35-1 long shot to win the tournament, made a 28-foot putt on the 18th hole Sunday that eventually put him in a playoff against Kramer Hickok. After both golfers made seven straight pars to open the playoff, English drained a 16-foot birdie putt to win the tournament.
The eight-hole playoff was the longest playoff in a PGA Tour event in nine years and tied for the longest since 1949. The tournament ended after 1 a.m. London time. English won $1,368,000 and helped the bettor win £1,039,554, which translates to roughly the same amount of English's haul in U.S. dollars.
"When he won the playoff, I was very relieved. I thought he had lost it after some wayward tee shots on the 18th hole," the bettor told Betfair in a company release.
"I thought I was going to have a heart attack when the winning putt went in. I couldn't believe it."

Aaron Rodgers has reportedly declined an extension with the Packers.
According to Adam Schefter, the team offered their franchise quarterback a two-year extension that would have kept him in Green Bay for five seasons. The deal would have made Rodgers the highest paid player in the league, but he turned it down.
Well, once again, my opinion on the situation has changed! When this all started, I said there was no chance Rodgers played again for the Packers.
Then, when things went silent, I re-evaluated and started to think that the lack of chatter was a sign that a deal was being done behind the scenes.
Well, that thinking was not correct!
Now, Rodgers has reportedly turned down a monster deal. That seems like a pretty clear indication that he doesn’t have any intention of playing for Green Bay.
At this point, I think we can all agree that things aren’t looking good for the Packers.
Of course, this is the NFL and things can change at any moment. Keep checking back for the latest updates as we have them.

The biggest storyline of the NFL offseason has been whether or not reigning NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers will return to the Green Bay Packers. Could he go to the Broncos? Or demand a trade somewhere else? Or what if he holds out and hosts Jeopardy instead? No one really knows how this story will play out. But yesterday we saw sportsbooks brace for another possible outcome: Retirement. Rumors are swirling that Rodgers could walk away from the game and announce his retirement sometime early next week before training camp begins. Right on cue, several sportsbooks pulled all of their Packers-related futures off the board, including win totals, playoff odds and divisional odds. While most shops took the Packers' win total down, Circa kept their numbers up, although they did adjust the Green Bay win total down from 11 to 8.5. Circa also has an updated alternate win total of Packers 9.5 with the under juiced heavily to -195. "It's all speculation on Rodgers," Derek Stevens of Circa told VSiN. "We want the guys with the great information to hit us first and then we'll try to get a read on it." The biggest beneficiary of the Rodgers news is the Vikings. Circa moved the Vikings to a + 125 favorite to win the NFC North, followed by the Packers + 195, Bears + 335 and Lions + 1515. If Rodgers does retire, second-year QB and former first round pick Jordan Love is set to take over.
