NASCAR Bettor Turns $13 Into Nearly $1M With Improbable 4-Leg ParlayThe gambler decided to take the longest of shots in Sunday racing action, placing a $13.49 free bet on four improbable drivers to finish in the top 10. The slip needed Cody Ware, BJ McLeod, Landon Cassill, and David Ragan to finish among the top 10 racers in the event. The odds for that quartet were +2000, +2000, +1500, and +950, respectively. They also began the race at 33rd, 34th, 35th, and 36th in the starting lineup. That was out of 37 drivers. Together, the parlay’s odds came in at +7408700, or about 74,000 to 1. The conditions at Daytona were rainy on Sunday, which led to an unpredictable result. A massive 20+ car pileup cut a number of drivers’ days short while helping some of those in the back of the pack move up in the order. When the chaos cleared, Cassill finished in 4th, Ware in 6th, McLeod in 7th, and Ragan in 9th. The measly $13 wager turned into an unreal $999,433 victory for the NASCAR bettor.

College Football bettors got absolutely crushed in Week 2 as upsets and chaos reigned
If you woke up on Saturday thinking Week 2 of the college football season wasn’t going to be anything special, shame on you.
If you woke up and hammered all the favorites—and let’s be honest, many of us did—you’re most likely already feeling that shame.
What was supposed to be a week of cupcake games for many of the elite programs in the country was anything but for bettors as multiple Top 25 teams failed to cover. A few even lost outright in incredibly shocking fashion.
No one was prepared to go to bed on Saturday night in a world where Kansas is 2-0 and No. 8 Notre Dame is 0-2. It’s officially been deemed a Blood Week. One that has sportsbooks cackling and the rest of the public grieving.
Not a good day for betting on Top 25 CFB teams:
No. 1 Alabama -21.5 ❌
No. 2 Georgia -53 ❌
No. 3 Ohio State -44.5 ❌
No. 5 Clemson -45.5 ❌
No. 6 Texas A&M -18* ❌
No. 8 Notre Dame -20.5* ❌
No. 15 Miami (FL) -27.5 ❌
No. 19 Wisconsin -17.5* ❌
*Lost outright

Bettor: Wow, I had a terrible day today. I lost 15 out of 15 in college football, I lost 8 out of 8 in baseball and I lost 6 out of 6 in soccer. I don’t know what I am going to do.
Friend: Well, there are hockey games starting soon.
Bettor: I don’t know anything about hockey.

An ugly Sunday Night Football contest provided a beautiful outcome for Marco Piemonte, who collected a payday of nearly $3 million from a six-leg parlay after the Denver Broncos rallied for an 11-10 victory over the San Francisco 49ers.Piemonte, who oversees five of the Al Piemonte Auto Group’s car dealerships in Illinois, had to sweat out the Broncos +1.5 points at -107 for the final leg of his $65,000 wager through PointsBet. Denver was miserable offensively for much of the contest until late in the fourth quarter, when Russell Wilson engineered a 12-play, 80-yard drive that culminated with a 1-yard scoring run by Melvin Gordon III with 4:10 to play. Denver missed the ensuing two-point conversion, which left Piemonte in jeopardy of losing since the 49ers would have covered with a potential game-winning field goal. The Broncos, though, delivered defensively by forcing turnovers on San Francisco’s final two possessions to seal the narrow win and Piemonte’s payday of close to $2.96 million. A spokesperson for PointsBet said it was the sportsbook’s largest payout of a parlay wager placed in the U.S. to date.

After Aaron Judge hit his 61st home run of the 2022 MLB season on Wednesday, Schilling appeared on OutKick’s “Don’t @ Me with Dan Dakich” and said that the doesn’t recognize the home run numbers that Bonds, McGwire or Sosa put up in their era because they all took performance-enhancing drugs.
“I don’t recognize anything that Sammy or Barry did knowing full well they had cheated. I don’t recognize any of that. That’s just personal,” Schilling said. “To me, that’s how I view it. The same reason why I wouldn’t vote for anybody that I knew did steroids for the Hall of Fame. I just wouldn’t do it. It doesn’t mean they don’t belong, doesn’t mean they aren’t a Hall of Famer, just means I wouldn’t do it.”

OTD: This Day In 1998: Phil Ozersky, a fan making $30K a year, catches McGwire’s 70th HR. Cardinals ask for the ball in exchange for a signed bat, ball & jersey. Ozersky also wants to meet McGwire. McGwire says no. Ozersky backs out. 3 months later, Ozersky sells ball for $3M - via @darrenrovell (Twitter)
